Ariana Grande teased yet another collaboration with The Weeknd on February 21st, 2023.

Grande Teases Song on Instagram

Grande took to her Instagram Tuesday afternoon with a behind-the-scenes music post. A casual video of her cutting music and recording vocals for a future song. All seems well and normal until, as Grande is playing her recording back, she teases a previously recorded verse with familiar lyrics;

Song Confirmed to be The Weeknd’s “Die For You”

 In fact, the lyrics were “You know what I’m thinkin’, see it in your eyes/ You hate that you want me, hate it when you cry,” which is a direct verse from The Weeknd’s hit single “Die for You.” The song rose to popularity in 2022. However, it was originally off on his album “Starboy,” released in 2016.

The “Exception”

Grande captioned the video “Wrote and recorded a verse for my friend after a 14-hour day on set. This certain exception had to be made…,” to which Grande refers to her role in the film adaptation of Wicked. In said film, she plays Glinda the Good Witch. Grande describes an exhausting work day, but still makes an “exception” for this project. So obviously, it must be important

The Weeknd posted the same video on his Instagram. He captioned it with a teary-eyed smile emoji. Thus, forming a connection between the two.

Past Collaborations

Grande and The Weeknd have done multiple collaborations in the past, so this would not be the first piece of work coming from the two. Their first collaboration in 2014–on a single “Love Me Harder,” was off of Grande’s sophomore album “My Everything.” This proved the musical duet to be a wonderfully beautiful mix and led to great success. With this in mind, the duo collaborated twice more; once on Grande’s “off the table,” (Positions, 2020), and another on the Weeknd’s “Save Your Tears,” (After Hours, 2020).

 The remixed version of “Save Your Tears,” was their greatest achievement, the song peaking at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart.

“Die For You” Remix

Now, there is a fourth studio collaboration between the two on “Die for You.” Both artists took to their Instagram on February 22nd, 2023 to give an official announcement of the remix and release date. The song is set to drop on the evening of the 23rd of February.
